Leaves a Mark Bookmark
by Robin McCoy

Pattern Information

Knitting Loom: Any small gauge loom with 11 pegs. (Brown leaf sample was made with the Kiss Loom on first setting plus 2 washers. Green leaf sample was made with the DA small gauge Wonderloom.)

Yarn: Use up your scraps of yarn with an appropriately gauged loom. Brown leaf was made with Red Heart Super Saver. Green leaf was made with Bernat Softee Chunky.

Notions: Tapestry Needle, Knitting tool, crochet hook, scissors.

Gauge: Not important for this project, however designer suggests using a small gauge loom or smaller.

These little bookmarks are perfect for the fall and they 'leave' your place marked when you are in the middle of a pattern or good book. These look great for Fall in gold, oranges, and browns or you can make them in various shades of green for a Spring or Summer look. Use your imagination and creativity to turn these bookmarks into decorations.

Pattern Notes:

ssk: Take the left stitch included in the decrease and place it on top of the right stitch of the decrease, now move these stitches together and in the same order back to the peg that held the left stitch. When knitting off you will knit off both loops as one.

k2tog: Take the right stitch included in the decrease and place it on top of the left stitch, now move both stitches together and in the same order back to the peg that held the right stitch. Knit both loops off as one.

KFB (knit into the front and back loop): Knit the stitch before the stitch to be increased and move this one out to the side, creating an empty peg. Knit the stitch on the other side of the increase. Move this stitch to the empty peg. E-wrap the new empty peg and pull the original loop back onto this peg and place it above the e-wrap. Purl the e-wrap (bottom loop) up through the original stitch (top loop) and pull them both off, replacing the e-wrap back onto the peg. Increase complete.

sl: means to slip or skip a stitch. Don't knit it.

Use your favorite method to cast onto 3 pegs from left to right.

Finishing

Remove from loom using the basic bind off method.
To make the piece that goes into the book, can be made in either of the following two ways:

-Pick up 2 stitches from the bind off edge and place them back on the loom then make a 2 stitch I-cord 12” in length.

- Insert crochet hook into center of the bind off edge and make a chain 12” in length.

Weave in ends.
